Our Story

Learn more about our organisation, our people, and our commitment to serving the community

Bergerie Trust CLG has been serving the older and vulnerable in our community for over 30 years, providing safe, comfortable sheltered housing and engaging day centre activities.

Our organisation was founded on the principle that everyone deserves dignity, respect, and a safe place to call home. We work tirelessly to create an environment where our residents can maintain their independence while receiving the support they need.

Through our sheltered housing and day centre programmes, we’ve touched the lives of countless individuals and families, helping to combat loneliness, provide essential services, and build a stronger, more compassionate community.

Areas of Impact

Reducing Social Isolation

Our day centre programmes and community activities help combat loneliness by creating meaningful connections and fostering a sense of belonging among older residents.

Promoting Independence

Through our sheltered housing, we enable residents to maintain their independence while having access to support when needed, enhancing their quality of life.

Supporting Vulnerable Populations

We provide essential services to some of the most vulnerable members of our community, ensuring they have safe housing and access to care and support.

“The day centre has given me a new lease on life. I’ve made wonderful friends and look forward to every visit.”

How are we funded?

Bergerie Trust is significantly dependent on external funding.

The services provided by Bergerie Trust – supporting independent living and accommodation for the older, in a caring community setting – generate some income for the Trust in their own right.

As a charitable organisation our ability to raise capital is limited.

Having sufficient reserves over the coming years, and with the support of stakeholders such as the HSE and Limerick City and County Council, is essential to our ability to continue and progress in a sustainable manner.

New funding partners are always welcome.

If you or your organisation are interested in the possibility of funding our work – either by way of a general donation or funding for a specific project – we would be delighted to hear from you.
